Note to Passersby: These stories are based upon the 2002 American remake of the Japanese film Ringu. They do not follow the storyline set forth in the 2005 sequel The Ring Two. The summary treatment it gave to Richard and Anna Morgan conflicts with my previous Ring stories (written before its release), not to mention some pretty hard evidence in the first film itself. Call me crazy, but I'm not willing to give up my previous characterizations so future pieces will mesh with what was, in my opinion, an inferior sequel-for-cash.
(Besides, I'm only writing about the first movie here. Nothing about it is definitive, it's full of mysteries, and free to interpret. That's what the fans did before The Ring Two came along.)
If you'd like to read any of what I consider The Ring's back story canon, please check out
Well, thank God that's over. Here goes nothing.
