So here I am, the old-souled authoress. And I'm not as classy as I present myself to be. Just keep reading and I'm sure you'll agree.

annexa n. - an accessory or adjoining anatomical parts or appendages (especially of the embryo), i.e. "fallopian tubes and ovaries are annexa of the uterus" [syn: adnexa]



'annexa'?: "Downeaster Annexa" was a humorous nickname I gave this writing journal many years ago to complement my main LJ, "Downeaster Electra" as, well, its writing annex of sorts. "Downeaster Annexa" also conveniently rhymed with "The Downeaster 'Alexa,'" my favorite song, upon which the name of my main LJ is based, so that was another good reason for calling the Annexa as such as far as I was concerned.

Anyway, this little nickname was coined before I even knew that 'annexa' was actually a real word; I found this out only a year or so after the nickname was granted! And, once I found that out, I realized that 'Annexa,' considering its definition, is quite fitting, considering all of the Anna/Richard/Samara/Morgan general Ring-type things lying around here: Samara's mysterious conception; Anna's gestation and Samara's birth; the girl's misunderstood upbringing and devastation of an entire island; Richard's resentment of her and his wife; his mourning of his life's work when Samara sent his horses into the sea; Anna's regrets later about not getting that hysterectomy to prevent the eventual ruination of her life, etc. (Sorry. Without mean humor, I'm just... humorless. The characters understand... mostly.)

So, with this 'annexa' thing being so ironically fitting, how clever and unknowingly pretentious am I?

and the music?: And why Kate Bush up there? Read the lyrics I have posted and tell me that's not a bad dream in the night for Richard Morgan, courtesy of Anna's ghost. (I have a feeling she visits as often as I play that song.)

Anyway, welcome to my fanfiction journal. New stories will appear here when the mood strikes me to sit down and actually get something done. (Or when my body allows me to type for extended periods of time without cruel MS side effects.) I also sometimes rehash old stuff when I'm feeling guilty about being lazy or ineffectual... *shrugs* But I haven't done that in awhile, since I've finally been working on new stuff.

blanket disclaimer: I only post fanfiction here, meaning that most of the already-established stuff isn't mine and I've never claimed it was. Every single act described in the stories of this journal is fictional unless otherwise specified, and not meant to inspire nor incite any type of illegal activity. On that note, a lot of my stories deal with "mature themes," whatever that means. However, I refuse to make age restrictions here, because if you read it, and understand it, and like it, then I really don't care how old you are. How novel!
